Overview
GS-Route is a twin of RouteIdiot that is focussed on BMW-Motorcycles. Both apps support cloud drives from Microsoft, Google, and Apple. You can configure which cloud drive you want to use in the settings. Multiple systems can be used in parallel.
Export to phone
In recent years, smartphones have made their way into navigation, often replacing traditional navigation devices from Garmin, TomTom, and BMW. Competing cloud drives are available for iPhone, Android, and Microsoft Windows. Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, and Apple’s iCloud Drive are available for Windows. Those traveling with a tablet like the Microsoft Surface Pro can use OneDrive, for example, to access all the tracks and routes planned at home. These can be edited on the Surface and then forwarded to their smartphone if necessary.
If you don’t need to make any changes, you can also import everything directly to your smartphone from one of the three supported cloud drives.
Import from phone
The BMW Connected Ride Navigator supports track recording. At the end of a day, you can compile all stages into a GPX file and save it in the BMW cloud. To import these tracks to your computer, you then open them with the BMW app on your phone and export them to one of the three cloud drives. From there, you can import them into GS-Route and use them to plan future routes. Recorded tracks from apps like Scenic can also be exported and further processed in GS-Route.
